The limited edition Platinum Preppy Wa the second collection consists of six designs inspired by traditional Japanese patterns. This is part of the second set of six for 2022, following the initial introduction in 2021.
The Platinum Preppy fountain pen is one of the best values for the money! This is a fantastic starter fountain pen, or great for lending to a friend. This fountain pen features a clear cap, trim, and grip section, and a stainless steel nib. The Preppy features Platinum’s patented “Slip and Seal” cap design that keeps the nib from drying out for a year or longer without use. This makes it ideal for new fountain pen users and people who like to switch pens frequently.
The Preppy accepts Platinum cartridges or a Platinum converter to fill with bottled ink. It comes with one blue-black ink cartridge. The Platinum converter is sold separately.
Alternatively, by converting this pen to an eyedropper, you can fill the entire barrel with ink for maximum ink capacity! All you need to do is add an o-ring and a small amount of silicone grease to the threads.
# 2 YAGASURI This pen features a solid black body with gold designs
Yagasuri (scattered folding fans Black): Known as an auspicious pattern as the shape of the folding fan that widens at the bottom represents prosperity and growth, it had traditionally served to ward off evil and bad fortune as as it was believed that gods dwell in fans.
# 3 SAKURA TATEWAKU This pen features a translucent pink body with cherry blossom designs
Sakura Tatewaku (scattered cherry blossoms Pink): “Sakura”, the Japanese word for cherry blossoms, is said to be comprised of “sa” that refers to the god of rice field and “kura” that means a seat for the god, and hence, people believed that cherry blossoms signaled a year of good harvest. The symbolic flower of the spring also represents new beginnings, prosperity and good luck.
# 4 UROKOMON This pen features a translucent yellow body with silver triangular designs
Urokomon (hemp leaf Green): Traditionally, a triangle has been regarded as a symbol that denotes protection against evil spirits; therefore, the pattern with aggregated triangles that form a hexagonal shape is believed to have stronger power to ward off evil. Also, hemp leaf that is durable and grows quickly symbolizes the hope for children to grow healthy and strong.
# 5 ICHIMATSU This pen features a translucent green body with black square designs
Khimatsu (ivy Green): The pattern depicts ivy vines growing every which way without being broken, which symbolizes vitality, longevity and flourishing prosperity.
# 6 SEIGAIHA This pen features a translucent blue body with silver mountain designs
Seigaiha (Reishi clouds Light Blue): The cloud pattern is inspired by the form of Reishi mushrooms, a type of bracket fungus known as the symbol of immortality. Believed to be the cloud that appears as an omen of good fortune, Reishigumo has been widely used in Japan as an auspicious pattern since ancient times.
# 7 HANABISHI KIKKO This pen features a solid navy blue body with white flower designs
Hanabishi Kikko (Dark Blue): The Chinese character “manji” is known to represent the universe in harmony and infinity in Buddhism. The Sayagata pattern features interlocking manji characters of a slightly modified form that symbolizes unbroken continuity and hence conveys the hope for prosperity and longevity of a family.
