LAMY BLACK AL-STAR FOUNTAIN PEN VS. WASHING MACHINE EQUALS BENT NIB ~ Today I’d like to tell you about the durable Lamy pens. A customer came into the shop and said he needed a new nib for his Lamy Al-Star pen. When he showed me his pen I let out a bit of a gasp when I saw the nib as it was bent badly. He said the whole pen had gone through the washer. So I replaced the nib for him but truthfully I thought the pen was DEAD. So I said “let’s fill it up and give it a test drive” and unbelievably enough it wrote beautifully. The converter was still in the pen and it filled right up and the feed was still in working order. Quite pleasantly surprising.
And it looks brand new. Even I didn’t know these Lamy pens were this durable. I told my customer “this give a whole new meaning when I tell someone to bring the pen back clean and I will change the nib for you; I didn’t mean it quite this literally!” Customer was very happy and I was very pleased with a quality product.
